3.AWARENESS ADVOCACY AND FUNDRAISING PROGRAM FOR PEDIATRIC SCT IN INDIA (BMT PROJECT)

    GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
  1. To put together authenticated information & create a set of Peer reviewed evidence-based guidelines for the clinical indications and appropriate use of autologous, allogeneic SCT in the Indian setting using cord blood, marrow, PBSC, from matched, mismatched and unrelated donors for pediatric SCT in India
  2. To create public awareness about SCT and related issues and widely disseminate this information to professionals and patients
  3. To advocate with existing and planned SCT centers, Donor Registries and Stem Cell Banks by putting out publicly, a set of standards that is acceptable domestically and internationally
  4. To advocate to institutions and societies like ICMR and the Indian Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation to work responsibly and proactively in areas of research, education and training of professionals and creation of relevant infrastructure.
  5. To set up a SCT Fund for financial assistance of poor ill-affording child patients who need SCTs; to develop guidelines for and to administer the fund
  6. To encourage SCT centers to partner with us by subsidizing costs of SCT for few numbers of poor ill-affording child patients.

  1. Public at large
    1. in particular affected patients and families and
    2. potential donors both of funds and of marrow, UCBC, PBSC Stem Cells
  2. general pediatric haemat- oncologists (who refer these patients) for transplant
  3. Hospitals - cancer centers, hematology departments with existing/planned BMT/SCT units
  4. Donor Registries, Stem Cell Banks – private and public, existing and potential
  5. Regulators
  6. Research organizations and institutions
